The Costa del Sol’s climate is unique in Europe, thanks to the protection of the mountain ranges close to the coast. Hot summers are cooled by sea breezes and mild winters escape much of the rain which does not cross the mountain barriers. In August, the average daytime temperature is 30.4°C, while the January average maximum is 17°C.
